Despite the spread of the corona virus, the industry is still trying to somehow find everyday life. For example, Apple presented new iPad Pro models without a live stream. The Sony Xperia 1 II was presented via stream, just like the LG V60 ThinQ. Now HMD Global is following suit with the Nokia 8.3 5G and wants to bring many upper-class functions to the upper middle class. Above all, the new cellular standard and a powerful quad camera.
Nokia 8.3: Mobile phone with 5G and quad camera from Zeiss as a selling point
It may not always be the most powerful processor. The Nokia 8.3 5G deliberately uses the Snapdragon 765G, which can be found in the upper middle class. The processor can then choose between 6 GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory or even 128 GB with 8 GB RAM. The display is huge at 6.81 inches and resolves in FullHD + (2,400 x 1,080 pixels). An advanced IPS panel is used as the display on the Nokia 8.3.
It gets interesting on the back. According to HMD, a quad camera from Zeiss is used here. The configuration consists of sensors with 64 MP (wide angle), 12 MP (ultra wide angle), 2 MP (macro) and a fourth sensor for depth measurement. We therefore think the term quad camera is exaggerated, since you can only access three sensors effectively. The fourth sensor for depth measurement is only for support. The optics are provided by the German company Zeiss, which has been present in Nokia smartphones for many years and ensures very good results.
The 5G capability of the Snapdragon 765G processor is also intended as a special feature. You can use the mid-range smartphone to radio in the 5G network, provided that you have already expanded it. A battery with 4,500 mAh should ensure good runtimes. Fast charging is supported with 18 watts, but many smartphones are already much faster here.
Nokia 8.3 5G: release, prices and availability
When the Nokia 8.3 5G is officially released, it was not confirmed with an exact date, but it is expected to be released in the third quarter of this year. The price should then be 599 euros for the version with 64 GB and 6 GB RAM. However, not all device versions come in all regions.
The Nokia 8.3 5G should be available in the color Polar Night in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in the third quarter of 2020 with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage for an MSRP of 649 euros or 599 Swiss francs.
